If you ever have a chance to see any of them, anywhere, don't miss the opportunity! for general questions about the series, or for questions from artists and their agents, click here
Pre-purchase seats? Easy, just click here, tell us how many, and send a check in. Seats are held in chronological order, best down to less-best. Kids can always sit up front. It's a good idea to call, as it can get crowded!
Far more than a concert series, we send artists to schools to teach, hold great workshops, many free of charge, and do everything we can to spread the joy of playing this great music. The Bearfoot Camp was a huge success, and we'll be holding picking sessions for folks of all ages and abilities so you all can follow up on your practice! Just click on the workshop link below. Pictures of the camp are here! WORKSHOPS
As usual, many thanks to our sponsors, without whom there would be no series. Want to help? Drop us an email. We have several levels of sponsorship, and any help is greatly appreciated. Help support our mission of bringing great music to families and kids along the Shoreline!
The ever-evolving Fall schedule
Sept. 12 , 7:00 PM
The Cara Dillon Band OK, this is real simple. According to just about every major critic in Ireland, England, and Europe, she's the best pure singer alive. Done. Her concerts are VERY lively, with a real contemporary blend, with a few trad pieces thrown in. Great for all ages, a real DON'T MISS event. $15 adults, $5 kids as always, ice cream after the show!
October 4, 7:00 P.M. Marley's Ghost A very rare treat! When I first got their CD from the agent, I didn't know what to make of it. The incredible musicianship and singing were obvious, but their mix of material was the most diverse I'd ever heard: sea chanteys, old-time songs, strange brews of unusual arrangements with a zillion different instruments. Then it hit me: This is what Crooked Still or the Mammals will be doing after they've been around for 25 years. This is what most roots/Americana bands out there wish they were capable of doing now. Trust me, just show up.
$20 adults, $5 kids oh, and again, ice cream. just show up. you'll be happy.
We also mentioned some odd and unique things were happening, too. Just wait. We're not finished yet!
"Fire in the kitchen" is
an old saying for traditional music house parties from Scotland and
Ireland, over to Cape Breton and Prince Edward Island, down through the
Appalachians, and all the way to Louisiana. It's foot stompin' roots
music full of fiddles, guitars, accordions and all manner of homemade
instruments. No matter where it comes from, you can't sit still when
you hear it.
The main
mission of our series is to bring you some of the finest roots
musicians in the world, with special emphasis on Celtic-inspired music
from Ireland, Scotland, and North America. A related mission is to
showcase young or unheralded talent, as it helps them to be seen, and
allows us to experience the growth of some fantastic performers. Bands
that have played here have also played some pretty impressive places,
like the Sydney Opera House.
As a bonus, we try to arrange for workshops for local amateur musicians, led by the performers themselves. We're
very proud of the fact that artists who play here consider it one of
their favorite venues world-wide, and are always asking to come back
and play again. The acoustics, the ambience, and the audience are
all first-rate!
